Many children, as you've noted, from low-income families [00:11:28] don't have the resources or opportunities to participate in popular sports because of the high expenses for equipment, participation fees, coaching, etc., which causes trouble with physical health, social skills, and personal development. Is that correct, ma'am? Do you want to introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about where you are right now and what's next for you? [00:11:44] My name is Juliet Schneider. I go to Freeman High School. I'm a rising senior. Sorry. Wait, did everyone hear that? Just checking, I didn't want to repeat. Okay, well, I guess my upcoming plans, they're really just college, trying to apply. [00:12:04] I'm probably going to stay in state. But, yeah, I'm also going to continue with tennis, a really big passion of mine. Really excited to be on the team for four years in a row. Congratulations. And the Gold Award is the peak and pinnacle of Girl Scouts. Is that correct? [00:12:20] Yes. Congratulations. Thank you. Eleanor Williams. Ms. Williams, are you here? All right. Well, in Eleanor's absence, I want to note that her gold award, she created a video to show the impact Feedmore has on many individuals in the greater Richmond area. And the video that she created highlights seven key companies and programs that partner with Feedmore to provide food for those in need. So, Eleanor, if you're logged in online or if you stream this later, congratulations on your gold award. [00:12:51] Mikayla. Is Mikayla here? How are you, ma'am? Good. Congratulations. I understand that your project is a Just Breathe, is a coloring book that can be used to help when feeling anxious and anxiety, and it has calming coloring pictures, inspiring quotes to uplift spirits. Can you tell us about it? Yes. My name is Mikayla Swales. I graduated from J.R. Tucker High School. [00:13:10] I made a coloring book last summer that talks about anxiety and mental health. I wanted to make an outlet for people to help, you know, control their anxiety, and it's something that I struggle with, so I wanted to help it with other people. I printed, I made my coloring book on canvas and then I gave it out to over like 100 people and including some companies and it was really exciting. [00:13:35] Right now for my future, I will be attending Howard University and studying political science. All right, thank you for being here. [00:13:52] Your heart to health is empowering wellness through cardiovascular education. Graduated from, I guess, Mills Godwin, Center of Medical Services, is that right? Yes, sir. And your gold award endeavors to tackle critical issues of cardiovascular health and menstrual well-being within underserved communities. [00:14:08] This project that you handled is driven by your profound commitment to bridging healthcare gaps and fostering holistic well-being. Is that correct? Yes, sir. You want to tell us about it and tell us what your future is? Sure. My name is Ria Chandran. I'm a rising senior at Millsy Godwin High School in the Center for Medical Sciences. [00:14:23] My project, like you said, was focused towards underserved communities. I really wanted to focus on the people who needed the basic needs that we get day-to-day, but they don't get access to. And I hope that my project inspired younger girls to do the same in the future. And for my future, I plan on majoring in neuroscience on the pre-med track. [00:14:43] I am a rising senior, so wish me luck on my college applications. Thank you. Michaela here. Michaela. Donald. How are you? [00:14:59] Congratulations. Your project has produced some educational materials to be used by local Virginia society, is that correct? The Virginia Herpetological Society. Can you tell us about it? Go ahead. The society of herpetology is a study of reptiles and amphibians. I made educational material for use by them to help the education and outreach section of their organization. [00:15:21] I think it's very important for people to understand their local species, and species such as native amphibian and reptile species are often seen as gross or dangerous, and I feel it's important for people to have an appreciation for the nature around them, even the weird parts. [00:15:36] Well, thank you. What's in your future? I just finished my first year at the University of Mary, Washington. I'm pursuing a bachelor's in biology. Excellent. Congratulations on your gold award. Kida, how are you, ma'am? [00:15:53] I'm good. How are you? Congratulations. I believe, tell us about newcomer narratives. your gold award has addressed the issue and the lack of knowledge surrounding different cultures and backgrounds in our society? Yes, I think, oh hi everyone, my name is Nikki Rajan, I go to Bremen High School and I'm a junior, well now a senior actually, and newcomer narratives was basically stemmed from the fact that our school is really diverse, and I think it's kind of different from other schools in the sense that we host so many refugees, immigrants, and kids from different backgrounds, and something I really wanted to bring to our entire community's attention is the lack of knowledge of other cultures. And I think it's important to uplift [00:16:31] other people in their stories and make them feel like they really belong in our community. So that's basically what Newcomer Narratives is about. For my future, I hope to do something with pre-law and do something with human rights, maybe international law, just working for the greater good. Well, congratulations. And if I'm correct, I believe, are you all graduating seniors? [00:16:55] Is that correct? For the folks who had not spoken yet, do you want to introduce yourself and speak about what you're working on or no i didn't want to leave you out please be my guest what's your name my name is kitty sherman i just graduated from jr tucker high school i am working on my gold award which is bringing leadership opportunities to girls who don't have the privilege and ability to go to summer camps which actually don't offer leadership training anymore girl scouts of the commonwealth of virginia no longer offers program aid or junior aid leadership [00:17:29] award so my project is bringing those back but giving the leaders themselves the training to lead their girls well thank you ma'am i believe you've been in the girls class for eight years you've already achieved your bronze and your silver yes sir this is your trifecta good for you congratulations congratulations thank you i'm caroline hope i am just graduated from milsey godwin high school and i'm attending vcu in the fall to study biology i'm very excited to do that I have been in Girl Scouts for eight years, similar to Kitty, and some of my greatest [00:18:07] memories have been helping with the Brownies this year, and last year, being an assistant leader, I really liked providing an opportunity to create an environment that I had as a girl growing up in Girl Scouts. It was really an exciting opportunity, so I was really happy to give that back to the younger girls. [00:18:24] You've been to Girl Scouts for eight years, and you've achieved your bronze and silver? Want to tell us a little bit about archery, or you don't want to brag about your archery skills? I was not as good as some other people. I just did it for fun. A lot of the things, like Girl Scouts was fun because I got to do a lot of things that I, like, we, I did axe throwing and, like, I did a lot of, like, high adventure things with, like, knife throwing and things, like, things that I wouldn't be able to do and other things. [00:18:50] So archery was one of those things that I tried and decided I was not very good at. So I decided to pursue other things, like, um, sciences. I really liked the, Girl Scouts had a lot of different science badges, which, um, one of their badges was, like, the detective science badge, which exposed me to forensic science, which is something I'm considering for the future. [00:19:08] Good for you. Well, thank you to each of you. I appreciate you, and congratulations on your achievement. I'll be down in a second. I want to make one final note. Congratulations to each of you. As a parent of a daughter with her gold award, it is incredible, the achievement that you attained. So congrats. I'm coming your way. Don't leave. We have some gifts for you all. [00:19:59] Congratulations, ladies. Thanks for coming by. Thank you. Thank you, ladies, again. Thank you for being here, and congratulations on your achievements. Before we close out, Board of Supervisor comments, I want to make a note that Mr. Nelson has a comment I'd like to share, sir. [00:20:29] Good evening, everyone, Mr. Chair, colleagues. This past weekend, the county recognized the 160th anniversary of June 10th and the powerful celebration of freedom on Saturday. This past Saturday, the 5th annual Juneteenth celebration was held at Door Park with a record-breaking crowd of 23,700 guests. [00:20:53] There was a fantastic vendor fair, KidZone, community stage showcasing local talent, a variety of delicious food, live entertainment. It began with the incredible Go-Go Legends EU featuring Sugar Bear plus the iconic Chuck Brown Band. [00:21:10] For the grand finale, we welcomed back the Art of Noise featuring DJ Lonnie B plus an epic firework show to light up the night. It was an incredible and unforgettable experience. I'd like to thank the event organizers, particularly from Henrico Recreation and Parks, for all of their hard work planning and executing the event and just exuding the best of what Henrico County is. [00:21:36] Rex and Park, John Zanino, you at John. John, please, your team did an incredible job. Thank them for us. Thank you also to the members of Henrico Police and Henrico Fire for your assistance in providing a safe community event. [00:21:55] They did that as well as parked cars and directed traffic and made sure the people had water, et cetera. And so I think there's a recap video. Is that true? That's what this note says, and now we'd like to share a recap of the event valued by the team at Enrico County Public Relations. [00:22:18] Comments from my colleagues tonight? [00:24:49] Seeing none. There are no news media in the room with us today, but if you're dialed in online today, we certainly appreciate your coverage. Mr. Manager. Mr. Chair, members of the board, you would move into presentations. You have three items this evening. The first is Agenda Item 150-25, which is a resolution. [00:25:08] This commends the Glen Allen High School girls' softball team. This resolution commends that team for winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 Softball State Championship. Mr. Chair, you do need a motion. Yes, sir. [00:25:26] Is there a motion to accept Resolution 150-25? Yes, sir. So moved. Second. Second. All those favorables. Hi. I'm saying hi. Hi. All right, ladies, come on down. Time to celebrate. Folks, while these ladies are coming down here, it's an honor, and I appreciate my colleagues for allowing me the opportunity to present this resolution to the Glen Allen High School softball team, [00:26:03] who has just recently come off a state title, Coach J, the first in program history. First in program history. So, heck of an accomplishment, ladies. Folks, let's do the business first, and then we'll have some gifts and take some pictures. [00:26:19] This resolution on behalf of the Board of Supervisors is to commend the Glenallen High School softball team for their state championship. Whereas on Saturday, June 14th, the Glenallen Jaguars won the Virginia High School League Class 6 softball state championship title on their home field, marking the first softball state championship in program history. [00:26:37] And whereas this season was the first under head coach Stu Brown, who summed up the year by saying, quote, They went through adversity, but they are now state champions. They are state champions because they simply fight, and they have outworked everyone. And whereas, Jaden Tillman pitched all 202 pitches in the Jaguars' Class 6 semifinal and state championship games, with her coach calling her the, quote, best pitcher in the state of Virginia. [00:26:59] She is this Class 6 state pitcher of the year. I don't care what they said. I saw it on social, and I wanted to comment, but I held back. Whereas, Western Branch scored the game's first two runs to put us down 2-0, but the Jags came back with a win by the final score of 7-4. [00:27:16] Whereas in the fourth inning, Isla Godding launched a triple to clear the bases, scoring two runs and pushing Glenn Allen into the lead. Whereas the game was a rematch of the Region 6A final that Western Branch won 2-0. Whereas the Brooklyn District and the entire Henrico community are tremendously proud of the team and applaud the team's members for building positive relationships with other teams themselves and our community throughout the process. [00:27:40] Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Henrico County, Virginia, that we hereby congratulate and commend team members. Alexia Bocher, Alexa Brown, Ava Cunningham, Heidi Gill, Isla Godding, Maeve Hahn, Mackenzie Houston, Caroline Jesse, Ashton Limbaugh, Mackenzie Mayfield, Gabriella Melton, Cheyenne Knuckles, Ashton O'Neill, Maya Richardson, Elizabeth Libby Shine. [00:28:02] I got that one. That was a nice tip I got. Where's Libby? Did I get that right? Got that, Libby. Jaden Tillman, Allison Vi, Ali Von Herbilis, and Kendall Winstead. Head coach, Stu Brown, and assistant coaches, Eric Oslins, Kami Brummett, and Angela Sparendio. [00:28:18] Congratulations to each of you. Be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Enrico County, Virginia, hereby extends our heartfelt congratulations to the Glen Allen High School softball team on winning the school's first state championship in softball, and commends the team for exhibiting superior sportsmanship during such a successful season. Signed by myself as chair of the Board of Supervisors, and attested to by our clerk, Ms. Tanya Brackett. [00:28:37] Coach J, Coach Brown, ladies, this shall hang wherever. The Glen Allen High School wishes to hang it. And we have some other gifts for you as well. And then someone's giving comments. So get prepared and start your rock, paper, scissors. Coach J, Coach Brown, thank you. [00:28:54] Mr. Chair, Mr. Chair, can I make a... And ladies, this is your picture from your state championship victory on the field with the scoreboard behind you. And it's signed by each member of the board of supervisors and our county manager. So congratulations. Can I ask you a question, Mr. Chesney? [00:29:10] Yes, sir, Mr. Nelson. Stu Brown's role with this team is what? Head coach. He's the head coach? Head coach. Okay. I just want to make sure, Glenn Allen, I don't know if you know this, but Stu Brown is a legend in Verona. And so I know he's known for girls' softball in Glenn Allen, but in Verona he's an iconic Hall of Famer football coach. [00:29:39] I just want to make sure that we, I want to let him know we still claim him. And he is now a legend also, Mr. Nelson, in the Brooklyn district. Mr. Brown, you got two out of five districts knocked out. So there's a few more folks, but we'd like to keep you right here at the Glen Allen softball program. [00:29:58] Ladies, congratulations. I'm thrilled that you're here tonight to share with you. Families, thank you for making time to come with us. We want to get this done. I apologize for the rush. I want to thank our clerk. This was the quickest resolution I think we put together in history. We want to catch you before your summer breaks and certainly before these seniors went off to school. We've got some gifts here for you, but, Coach, why don't you take the mic? [00:30:15] Congratulations, sir. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you, everybody. This is my third of the year in public education in Henrico County, and I'm so grateful for the support of Tyrone Nelson and Reverend Cooper. [00:30:31] We spent decades together, so I'm so grateful for that support. Y'all, we met in December, and we started in the weight room, strength and conditioning. and I knew then they were athletes. That's the first thing that stood out to me. And the second thing is how hard they worked. They never had a bad day at practice. [00:30:48] Every rep they took in practice was with intent and purpose, and it was so that every situation that they came across in a game wouldn't be foreign to them. And they were very comfortable in uncomfortable situations, and that's why we won. When everybody else was nervous, they were playing hard. [00:31:04] They were playing hard, and it's something to say about them. It's something to say about their character. I am privileged to be their head coach. I'm privileged to coach with Coach Oslins, Coach Brumman, and Coach Sparandeo. And I'm so proud of the young ladies because I've said this. If I could define them, they're tough. [00:31:20] They mentally and physically and emotionally and socially tough. So thank you all for the support, and thank you all for this huge honor. Thank you. Coach Brown, ladies, we're going to get a quick picture. Stay right where you are. We'll get a quick picture. [00:31:36] And then I know there's members of the board specifically that want to say congratulations. So if you wouldn't mind circling around and saying hello, we've got some gifts for you on the way out. All right. Thank you. [00:32:19] All right, guys. [00:32:55] That's you. [00:33:57] Thank you, ladies, and congratulations again. [00:34:22] Mr. Manning. Chair, members of the board, next item is a proclamation for Parks and Recreation Month for July of 2025. This proclamation recognizes that month as Parks and Recreation Month and encourages all residents. Hold on one second. [00:34:37] Is there an open mic somewhere? Sorry. All right, we're good. I'm sorry, sir. To participate in physical activities to promote an active lifestyle. Our Three Shop District Supervisor, Mr. E. Roundtree, is presenting this proclamation to John Zanino, our Director of Recreation and Parks. [00:34:59] Evening, Mr. Zanino. It is a pleasure serving on the Parks and Rec Board with you and seeing all of the magic that you make happen regularly. Proclamation of the Board of Supervisors of Henrico County, Virginia, Parks and Recreation Month, July 2025. [00:35:20] Whereas, parks and recreation is an integral part of communities throughout this country, including Henrico County, and whereas parks and recreation promote health and wellness, improving the physical and mental health of people who live near parks, and whereas parks and recreation promote time spent in nature, which positively impacts mental health by increasing cognitive performance and well-being and alleviating illnesses such as depression, attention deficit disorders, and Alzheimer's. [00:35:49] And whereas, parks and recreation encourage physical activities by providing space for popular sports, hiking trails, swimming pools, and many other activities designed to promote active lifestyles. And whereas, parks and recreation are a leading provider of healthy meals, nutrition services, and education. [00:36:08] And whereas, parks and recreation programming and education activities, such as out-of-school time programming, youth sports, and environmental education, are critical to childhood development. And whereas parks and recreation increase a community's economic prosperity through increased property values, expansion of the local tax base, increased tourism, the attraction and retention of businesses and crime reduction. [00:36:32] And whereas parks and recreation are fundamental to the environmental well-being of our community. And whereas parks and recreation are essential and adaptable infrastructure that makes our communities resilient in the face of natural disasters and climate change. and whereas our parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community and provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors, and whereas the U.S. House of Representatives has designated July as Parks and Recreation Month, and whereas Henrico County recognizes the benefits derived from parks and recreation resources, [00:37:09] now, therefore, be it proclaimed that the Board of Supervisors of Henrico County, Virginia, hereby proclaims July 2025 as Parks and Recreation Month in the County of Henrico. Signed, Daniel J. Schmidt, Chair, Board of Supervisors, Tanya L. Brackett, Clerk. [00:37:24] Thank you, Ms. Roundtree. Mr. Manager, Mr. Chair, members of the board, just want to thank you guys for all the support. [00:37:41] We could not offer the services that we do without your support. When I look at my peers across the nation, I feel like I have the best job because I have the support of this board. We can offer all of our free programs and parks because of your support, so thank you for that. [00:37:59] I would encourage everyone, despite the heat, come out. Come out in July. Come to one of our free programs, a free event. Come to one of the parks, splash pads. We have something for everyone. So download our app, see what we have, but we have something for everyone. [00:38:16] Come out in July. Enjoy what we have to offer, so thank you. Next, Mr. Chair, our final presentation. This evening is the Keep Enrico Beautiful Committee Land Lover and Clean Business Award presentation. [00:38:32] I'm going to ask Bentley Channer, Director of Public Utilities, Alvin Christian, Assistant Director of Public Utilities, and Colin Walthal, Tuckahoe District Representative and Chair of the Keep Enrico Beautiful Committee to come forward for these presentations. [00:38:48] Thank you, Mr. Manager. Good evening, Mr. Chairman, members of the board, members of the community. My name is Colin Walthal. I'm the chairman of the Keep Henrico Beautiful Program with the Department of Public Works. [00:39:03] The Keep Henrico Beautiful Committee is comprised of appointed volunteers from each magistral district. The committee educates the public about litter prevention, recycling, and caring for our environment. I would like to introduce the members here tonight. Ruby Anderson from the Fairfield District. [00:39:21] Nicole Bridge, Tuckahoe District. Mark Dutz from the Three Chop District. Blaine Gooden from Verana District, Brian Montgomery, Fairfield District, Camilla Phelps, Brooklyn District, and then Colin from the Tuckahoe District. [00:39:37] We present our Land Lover and Clean Business Awards annually. These awards are based on criteria set forth by the committee. The following individuals and businesses exemplify pride in their properties as well as a commitment to recycling. [00:39:54] They employ best management practices for soil and water conservation and habitat protection. They are an asset to our community. These properties truly keep Henrico beautiful. These awards will be presented in alphabetical order by district. [00:40:12] Pictures of the properties will be shown on the screens before you. At this time, I would like to ask Mr. Daniel Smith to come forward to present the Land Lover Award for the Brooklyn District. Okay, keep rolling. [00:40:40] The Landliver Award for the Brooklyn District is presented to the Gwinn family. This eco-conscious family has brought their love for the environment front and center in their lovely yard, producing non-native turfgrass and planting natives their cornerstones of this yard. [00:40:58] Bird bass are available for wildlife and leaves are home to caterpillar larva. We thank them for these sustainable practices and the 18 years they have volunteered to pick up litter in their community as part of the Because We Care program. [00:41:17] The Gwinn family are unable to attend tonight. Ruby Anderson of the Keep and Rec a Beautiful community is here to accept their award. I'd like to ask Mr. Roscoe Cooper to come forward and present the Land Lover Award for the Fairfield District. [00:41:47] The Land Lover Award for the Fairfield District is presented to Amber Brister. Having visited the Plant Native Festival last year at Doorway Park, Ms. Brister has embraced the benefits of native plants. Understanding the importance of pollinators, she recently added two pollinator gardens and several fruit trees to her property. [00:42:08] In an area that was once just grass, a native oak is now growing. Oaks are capable of hosting over 1,000 different species of moths and butterflies, so Amber does not apply any pesticides to her environmental-friendly yard. [00:42:28] Ms. Brister is here to accept her award this evening. Is that the board? Thank you. I asked Ms. Roundtree to come forward and present the Land Lover Award for the Three-Trop District. [00:43:04] The Land Lover Award for the three-top district is presented to Jared Dortson and Maggie Graff. Nominated by their neighbor, Jared and Maggie have transformed their property into a sustainable landscape anyone would be envious of. [00:43:19] Water conservation is key as they have reduced their turf grass in favor of pine mulch beds anchored by over 150 native trees, shrubs, and perennials. To round it off, they compost, they have a permeable driveway, and have removed invasive English ivy. [00:43:39] Jared and Maggie are hopefully viewing this presentation from Ohio with their family this evening. Hello from Ohio. Mark Dooch is here to accept the award on their behalf. [00:44:11] I'd like to ask Mr. Jody Rogish to come forward and present the Landliver Award for the Tuckahoe District. The Landlouver Award for the Tuckahoe District is presented to Teresa and Michael Gregory. As a Henrico educator for over 40 years, Teresa knows a few things about the butterfly life cycle. [00:44:35] For this reason, she knew she wanted to provide for all stages in this beautiful Tuckahoe yard. Beyond that, this yard boosts native trees and perennials. Stems left for native bees, leaves left for critters, and something appealing around every corner. [00:44:56] Teresa and Michael are here to accept their award. To ask Mr. Tyrone Nelson to come forward and present the Land Lover Award for the Varina District and to remain for the Clean Business Award. [00:45:31] The Land Lover Award for the Varina District is presented to Victoria Carpenter. When you have a dead tree being utilized by nesters and native bees, you don't have to cut the entire thing down. [00:45:47] Victoria has made her large tree remain the central focal point of her yard when most would have taken it away. Surrounding the tree is a pollinator's paradise with plants she gives and trades with neighbors. In the back, more biodiversity is presented in addition to composting, an organic garden, and water features for birds. [00:46:13] Ms. Carpenter is here to accept her award. I'd like to ask Mr. Nelson to stay and present the Countywide Clean Business Award. [00:46:54] The Clean Business Award for the county is presented to Celeste Farms. This regenerative farm located in Verina not only grows organic produce for sale to local businesses, but also provides the ultimate in farm-to-table experiences by inviting folks to dine on their property. [00:47:16] Celeste Farms also does not believe in growing a monoculture of just produce, but they also plant a wide variety of pollinator plants, including native species, to invite the local fauna. Motion carries, Mr. Manager. [01:10:14] Next, Mr. Chair, you'd move into public comments. Do not have anyone that is signed up for. Yes, sir, if you would go to the podium in the back, and if you would begin your comments by stating your name and address for the record. [01:10:51] Mr. Manager and Mr. Chairman and members of the board, Don Blake and I live in the Brooklyn District, living in Glen Allen. Talk to you about, I'm especially proud to know that I'm pleased to know that we have two pastors on the board and this will be a good message for them. [01:11:10] But before I start, I want to tell you a little story about Dave Cackley. Most of you remember Dave Cackley. He used to be on the, I used to be on the Tourism Board, Richmond Metropolitan Convention Center and Tourism Board. Dave was a member of that. In fact, he was chairman of the Board of Supervisors at the time. [01:11:28] After a meeting, we walked out the elevator together, and he said, I said, what do you think about that day? And he said, if the taxpayers knew about this, they'd be really upset. Well, the taxpayers didn't find out about it, but the county manager did, and Dick Clover did. [01:11:44] We had a meeting with people from the staff of the Richmond Tourism, and they said it would never happen again. Well, I think probably if the taxpayers in RICO knew personally about things that were happening, they'd probably be upset about it. [01:12:03] And what I'd like to tell you about tonight is what's happening in our county libraries. The taxpayers are funding. I think this might be especially interesting to members of the clergy who are both Christian pastors. [01:12:20] This is what we call Pride Month. And your libraries have displays of pride-recommended books. And I haven't been to all the libraries, but I've been to four of them. [01:12:35] And then three libraries, the fourth one doesn't have one, a display that I could find. But it's been reported to me, and so as I've traveled around the county and I've passed the library, I've gone in to look at them. It's very disturbing to see that as you walk into the library, there are displays recommending books that people, for a whole month, that people should read or perhaps even buy. [01:13:04] And it's interesting that in the Fairfield Library, the library is cooperating with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. They actually had a class there on June the 10th, 630 in the evening, to talk about pride issues. [01:13:21] I'm going to give each of you a packet of what is in these displays, recommended books, and it's a lot of them. It must have in this packet 20, 30 or more book covers that are available. [01:13:41] One of them is especially interesting, you'll see it in there, the Queen's English, the LGBTQIA dictionary. There's a dictionary that actually I'm going to order this dictionary because I thumbed through it and thought, what in the world? There are things in here that I've never even heard of, but the dictionary for LGBTQIA people. [01:14:06] Then we have pronouns. There's a pronoun pen party. That's a book. We have displays of recommended reading of these books. There are actually even bookmarkers that are available in all the libraries that are recommending reading for poetry, memoirs, history, and several other things. [01:14:30] Poetry, I mentioned that, but there are different books that they're recommending that people read in their public libraries. Here's a book called The Queer Advantage, Rainbow Warrior. The ex-girlfriend and my ex-girlfriend, two girlfriends, color your rainbow pride. [01:14:51] This is in the children's section of one of the libraries. So there are a number of books. I'm going to give it to you. There's a kid's section in two libraries, Rainbow Radness. It's just amazing what we have in public libraries. [01:15:10] I've put a couple of pages in the packet for you so you can see what's in that dictionary because it's really interesting. But there are displays here. Alphabet Soup, that's a book they're recommending. Queer Principles, LBGTQ Athletes. [01:15:28] his book called Moonstruck about two women, another book about two women, what the something, I don't understand that, a non-binary thing, gender identity. This is how taxpayers are paying for it. Everyone loves readings, LBGT, gender quest workbook. [01:15:46] There's just pages in here of this, hate crimes in America. I think if the public knows this, not many people are here. Mr. Blake, I'm sorry, you're running near your time. You can close up and you hand those packets to the clerk for them. [01:16:03] But I think you people, all of you supervisors and county minister managers should know who authorizes these things. Is it the library staff? Do they do it? The library committee? You know, who authorizes these things? [01:16:19] This is the third year in a row, I believe. It's the third year in a row that I know of that they've done this. So I would encourage you to look into this, especially you two members of the clergy. Thank you, Mr. Burke. Thank you for your time. Appreciate you, sir. I'm going to give each one of you a copy of it. [01:16:35] You can keep my copy. I don't want it. I am a Christian pastor. You can give it to the rest of them, but I salute our library staff. I'm glad we celebrate diversity and pride here. So keep my copy. I don't need it. Thank you. Mr. Manager. [01:16:52] Do I have sports? Yes, sir. If you would go to the podium. Mr. County Manager, Chairman of the Board, and members of the Board, I'm John Martin Owens of 6315 Milhiser Avenue, Brooklyn District. [01:17:15] I came tonight just to, I know you're not allowed to talk about general items on the agenda during public comment, but just a more general comment to make is if you happen to get money from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, assuming the Democrats win governorship, that gets restored, A good use for that money would be to offer to buyout folks on Millhizer and Morningside Drive on the two banks of the Horseman Branch slash drainage ditch area. [01:17:56] I guess in the general, I know you bought out some other owners along the Horseman Branch, and that might be a good opportunity to build a park for the county or whatever people might think to do with the land other than residential construction so thank you [01:18:27] thank you mr hi my name is britney rose and i live in glenn allen in the three chop district and i just wanted to take a moment to write a little bit of a different perspective on pride month displays in our libraries i'm actually going to get a little emotional but i'm so proud to live in a county that recognizes and celebrates all of its members, and I am proud that my tax dollars go towards paying for books and resources that are important to our queer community, so thank you for supporting that. [01:19:07] Thank you, Ms. Rose. I want to speak on WebEx. Mr. Chair, with your concurrence, you'd move into the general agenda? Yes, sir.
