Dr. Cashwell. Thank you, Madam Chair, members of the board, and the audience. We'll begin our meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, which will be followed by a moment of silence. As you're able, if you would please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. If you would Remain standing as you're able for a brief moment of silence. [00:00:42] And you may be seated. Thank you. I'd like to begin today's meeting with a brief update on school operations as water restoration efforts continue across our county. [00:01:04] First and foremost, I want to say thank you to our families, our students, our employees, for your patience, and of course your resilience during this very unexpected start to the new year. While we prepare for January weather events, this week's water-related challenges could not have been anticipated. [00:01:25] I am extremely grateful to Henrico Department of Public Utilities, the county manager, and the entire Henrico County team who have worked tirelessly for days to address the regional water issues. I spoke with the county manager earlier today and he confirmed that significant progress is being made. [00:01:45] Still, the boil water advisory remains in effect through tomorrow. Therefore, all of our Henrico County public schools and offices will remain closed on Friday, January 10th. We cannot safely provide meal service, operate drinking fountains and water bottle refill stations or support other operational services at this time. [00:02:08] Again, therefore, we do remain closed tomorrow, Friday, January 10th. Brooklyn Middle School, Wilder Middle School, and Tucker High School remain available as needed for community shower and water distribution sites. [00:02:25] And I wanna give special thanks to our school-based and central office teams for standing up those sites overnight. Additionally, Henrico County Public Schools employees and even some of our students are volunteering to distribute water throughout the county. [00:02:41] Our family and community engagement and equity and diversity and opportunity staff continue to help deliver water to neighborhoods with no or low pressure water service. Also today, the family and community engagement staff are partnering with Feed More to give more meal kits to Henrico County Public Schools students and families who are in the greatest need. [00:03:03] The school board and I understand this extended closure has been difficult for many families and that water services are essential for the safety and the health of our students and our staff. assured we're doing all that we can to get our students back to school as quickly as possible and know that many of our staff and families are experiencing tremendous hardship and challenges on their own throughout this very difficult time. We want to thank you for your understanding as we have navigated these challenges together. Madam Chair. Thank you Dr. Cashwell. The next item on the [00:03:40] agenda is the approval of the agenda.
