I am calling to order the November 27th Student Behavior and Accountability Committee meeting. Joined with me this evening are Harris, Mr. Mejedevi, and Ms. Polifko. I've been informed that we do not have anybody signed up for public comment. [00:00:20] Our next item is 3.01, approval of the October minutes. Do I have a motion, Mr. Mejedevi? Still be moved. All those in favor of approving the minutes from October, please. Oh, sorry. [00:00:35] Is there a second? Second. Thank you. All those in favor, please raise your hand and say aye. Aye. That motion passes unanimously. Our next item is a discussion of the committee meeting for December. [00:00:54] I wanted to discuss this with the other committee members, and I'd like to move that we cancel the December meeting as we don't have other items to move forward with sufficient time to basically take action as a board so so we're in agreement on canceling December I don't think we need to take a formal vote on that unless you'd like us to you do want us to okay I move that the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee canceled the December meeting second thank you all those in favor [00:01:34] please raise your hand and say aye aye that motion passes with all board members present so that's really all the business we have is there any new business for the committee well right I mean in terms of this section of the meeting now okay so at this I'll go ahead the the policy that we did talk about bringing up that had to do with student free speech the suggestion and moving through that that would be a consideration for the new board that [00:02:12] might take a few months to get through and they're gonna have to have input for So the idea of starting that discussion with the January SBAC committee was felt was better than trying to do it here and then not having a meeting and then coming back in with a new committee. Yeah, I think it just ends up causing rework if we were to start discussion on a policy that we weren't going to finalize. [00:02:35] So that makes sense. So, yeah, I guess we're essentially in a holding pattern until until 630 or whenever they arrive. [00:02:53] You can do a couple of things you can call for a break and bring it back in for closed session if you wanted to do that or you can go to closed session now while we wait for parents and students why don't we just call a recess until Until we can okay begin the appeal. [00:03:56] I move that the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee of the Loudoun County School Board recessed this public meeting and enter into a closed meeting pursuant to section 2.2-3712 of the Code of Virginia for the following purpose, discussion or consideration of a recommendation for disciplining a student enrolled in Loudoun County Public Schools as authorized by section 2.2-3711A2 of the Code of Virginia. I thank you we're now in closed session good evening we are coming out of closed session I move that the closed meeting be adjourned that the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee of the Loudoun County School Board reconvene its public meeting and that the minutes of the public meeting reflect that no formal action was taken in the closed meeting I have a second second okay sorry [00:05:07] I move that the following resolution certifying the closed meeting be adopted and reflected in the minutes of the public meeting resolution 11-23 24 whereas the student behavior and accountability committee of the loudon county school board has convened a closed meeting on this date pursuant to an affirmative recorded vote and in accordance with the provisions of the virginia freedom of information act and where section 22.2-3712d of the code of virginia requires a certification by this committee of the school board that such closed meeting was conducted in [00:05:43] conformity with Virginia law. Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee of the Loudoun County School Board hereby certifies that to the best of each member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which this certification applies, and to only such public business matters that were identified in the motion convening the closed meeting were heard, discussed, or considered by the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee of the Loudoun County School Board. So I move that the long-term suspension and placement in the OSA Alternative Program at the North Star School of Student LTS 01-23-24 be affirmed without the possibility of review.
